CCG Database Usability Evaluations
Project Definition: My research colleague and I were given the responsibility for evaluating the University of Michigan Center for Chemical Genomics Website interface using a variety of user-experience research techniques. We began the project by constructing an interaction flow diagram, which was followed by heuristic evaluations, comparative analysis, usability testing, and survey distribution and data collection.
My Role: I independently authored the survey report and managed the survey design, participant recruitment, and data collection and analysis process. I worked on the interaction flow map, creating half of it using Adobe Illustrator. The interaction flow map was used to explain the user's progression through the system while performing key tasks during the high-throughput screening process. I also developed navigation maps to determine whether and where the design of the navigation was hindering successful task completion. I developed a proposed navigation system to replace the current arrangement, designed in such a way that the elements would be more intuitively organized.

Final Report
My research colleague and I developed a final report documenting each of the techniques that we used to evaluate the database Web interface during our internship with the CCG. This report summarizes the methods that we followed to create interface-flow diagrams, conduct usability, comparative, and heuristic evaluations, and collect and analyze survey data.
